David Liniger, Chairman of the Board of RE/MAX International and Kristi Graning Sr. VP IT and eBusiness

“The fundamental changes the market has seen all point toward one irrefutable fact: experienced, committed, full-time real estate agents are better positioned today than ever before to dominate the professioan and demand the success they deserve.”
             -Dave Liniger
It was a joy to hear Dave Liniger and Kristi Graning talk about today’s real estate market.  As always, Mr. Liniger was full of statistics, market updates, economic trends, and the latest that is going on in Washington.  Kristi Graning discussed the uses of technology, the improvements being made to REMAX.COM and agent uses of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites.
I’ve been with RE/MAX for fifteen years, and it’s a great company to be affiliated with!

Still Some Apples!

Winchester
Marker Miller Orchards Farm Market in Winchester
Marker Miller Orchards Farm Market in Winchester
I spent a wonderful day with my two youngest children at the Marker Miller Orchard Farm Market in Winchester on Monday.  We picked three bags of apples, ate a half dozen apple cider donuts, and spent a glorious day outside!
Although Winchester may seem a far drive from Fairfax, Marker Miller Orchard is definitely worth the trip.  They still had plenty of apples, they are located in a very scenic valley, and their traditional farm market is the best.
What’s this have to do with real estate?  Not much, actually, I just thought I’d promote a well deserving business.  Take the drive!!

On The Fence?

May 27th, 2009 mgriffin Posted in Mortgage Loans, Of Interest... Comments Off

You can sit patiently in a boat and wait for the fish to jump into it or you can use the right bait and pro-actively go after them.  Similarly, you can wait for buyers to get off the fence on their own or you can coax them down by understanding and communicating the compelling reasons to buy a home now.

Too many people are slow to react and have a tendency to do as the “herd” does.  This means that some of the best opportunities are missed.

First-Time Buyer Tax Credit

April 20th, 2009 mgriffin Posted in First Time Homebuyer Seminars, Mortgage Loans, Of Interest... Comments Off

It’s been in the news, talked about, and discussed, but this flyer gives a great summary of what 2009 buyers can expect!

First, this credit does not follow the calendar year!  It expires December 1, 2009 and is a reduction to your tax liability, not a check sent to you because you purchased a home.

There are also income caps.  If you are single, the cap is $75,000 and joint filers it is $150,000, and you need to stay in the home for three years.  Unlike 2008, this is a true tax credit, and does not have to be repaid as long as the three year requirement is met.

Take a moment to download this PDF and feel free to call me with your questions!

Allow me to blow my own horn…

As many of you know, I’ve adopted the RE/MAX charity, the Children’s Miracle Network as my own.  With each sale, a portion of my commission is directed to the Children’s Miracle Network so they can continue their good work, helping children and their families with dire medical needs.

Congrats to Mark!

Congrats to Mark!

For example, all the RE/MAX offices worldwide have made a tremendous contribution to the health care of children at the premier children’s hospitals nationwide.  The impact of RE/MAX support means:
  • 856 repaired hearts
  • 3,477 brain MRI’s
  • 249 bone marrow transplants
  • 742 lives without cancer
  • 1,356 NICU beds

It was not just my privilege, but an unexpected honor that touched my heart.  I look forward to meeting the real estate needs of my customers and clients, and together we can make a difference in the lives of children.

Builder Incentives….. Below 4% Interest Rates??!!

January 30th, 2009 mgriffin Posted in Mortgage Loans, Of Interest... Comments Off

Recently while showing homes, I ran across a builder who was offering below market interest rates to help spur sales… would you believe 3 3/4%!! Other buiders are offering free upgrades for luxury features.

So, if you are on the fence about buying a home, I would think now is a great time to buy.  I’ve been selling homes since 1994, put my experience to work for you!  I can also help explain how builders work, and the best ways to purchase new construction.

Santa Visits RE/MAX Allegiance!

December 10th, 2008 mgriffin Posted in Giving Back, Of Interest..., Uncategorized 1 Comment »

On Saturday, I hosted a “Photos With Santa” event for my customers…. the turnout was great, the kids enjoyed seeing Santa, and everybody enjoyed seeing the magic of Christmas in the eyes of the little ones.

Here’s a pic of me and Santa, and my seven year old son, Kevin enjoying his visit.  It’s not only a pleasure, but it’s my honor to serve the real estate needs of Northern Virginia, and hosting Santa was just another way for me to show my appreciation to my customers for their loyalty and support.
